Kids' toys linked to environmentally destructive company

The toys that we are buying for our kids may be contributing to deforestation of the endangered Indonesian rainforest.

The biggest toy makers in the United States – Mattel, Hasbro, Disney and Lego - have been getting their pacakaging materials from Asia Pulp and Paper. APP is under Sinar Mas from Indonesia, which has been repeatedly linked to clearcutting in Indonesia.

For instance, APP build a paved logged road through one of the most carbon-intensive forests in the world.

Greenpeace launch a video on its website to call attention to the practices of APP. The video shows a shocked Ken reacts angrily when presented with evidence that his girlfriend Barbie is a rainforest “serial killer”.

“I don't date girls that are into deforestation,” Ken says sternly on the site.
