Shanghai is Sinking

Shanghai' which literally means 'above the sea', may be on its way to being below the sea.

The city's biggest concern reamins the slow, steadily mounting threat that comes with sea level rise. What stands between Shanghai and drowning is an average of 13ft of land. Construction of thousands of high-rise buildings, combined with the pumping of groundwater, is making the soil subside.

In addition, there are warnings from Meteorologists on more floods, as giant storm surges can ride in on higher tides to invade the city.
